1. Thung Nắng Boat Tour – The Valley of the Sun
Start your day with a tranquil 1.5-hour boat ride through Thung Nắng, or “Sun Valley.” Glide gently along emerald waters surrounded by limestone cliffs and lush vegetation. Along the way, you’ll see local homes, lotus ponds, and perhaps ducks or mountain goats along the banks.
Early morning visitors may be treated to the sight of pink water lilies glowing softly under the golden sunlight — a scene that perfectly captures the gentle soul of Ninh Binh.
2. Bích Động Pagoda – The Ancient Cave Temple
Next, visit Bích Động Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Ninh Binh, built in 1428. This ancient Buddhist temple is gracefully nestled into the limestone mountain, surrounded by tranquil scenery.
The pagoda consists of three levels — Lower, Middle, and Upper — connected by stone steps that wind through cool natural caves. Climb to the top to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of rice fields and karst peaks.
The sound of temple bells echoing through the caves and the scent of incense in the mountain breeze create a peaceful atmosphere — a perfect harmony of nature and spirituality.
