Dear travellers, welcome to Cao Bang— the land I proudly call home.
Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark – A Journey Through Time and Culture
Located in the far north of Vietnam, about 300 km from Hanoi, Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark covers 3,683 km², including Cao Bang City, the districts of Quang Hoa, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, and parts of Ha Quang, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, and Thach An. The geopark is one of Vietnam’s most remarkable natural and cultural landscapes, featuring dramatic limestone mountains, deep valleys, rivers, caves, and spectacular waterfalls.
Recognized by UNESCO, Non Nuoc Cao Bang is an exceptional open-air geological museum, allowing visitors to explore the 500-million-year history of Planet Earth through well-preserved karst formations, ancient marine sediments, fossils, and tectonic features.
Beyond geology, the geopark is home to a rich mix of ethnic groups, including the Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, Kinh, Lo Lo, and San Chi, who maintain distinctive traditions, festivals, costumes, and ways of life. Traditional stilt houses, terraced fields, and local markets reflect a cultural heritage deeply connected to nature.
The region is also renowned for its tangible and intangible cultural heritage, particularly important revolutionary historical sites such as Pac Bo, alongside natural highlights like Ban Gioc Waterfall, Thang Hen Lake, and ancient cave systems. Together, these elements make Non Nuoc Cao Bang an ideal destination for travelers seeking authentic experiences, scenic beauty, and a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s natural and cultural heritage.
